About St. James Catholic School Religious education is an on going process by which we all gradually mature in our faith--a faith that we strive to make vibrant, conscious, and active. At Saint James, we feel privileged to work with parents who are the primary educators in the spiritual formation of their children.
St. James Catholic School has brought technology directly into our classrooms and is facilitating 21st century learning. Students in first to eighth grade have class sets of Chromebooks for their individual use. Putting a Chromebook in all our students’ hands provides a learning environment that is engaging and will bring their learning experience to the next level. For example instruction enhanced by technology will:
•Allow for more opportunities to individualize student learning •Enhance classroom instruction •Offer effective implementation of supplemental resources •Offer a more time efficient testing platform •Provide immediate resources
Chromebooks in the classrooms provide flexibility in the class environment, increases student engagement and enhances the lessons and how they are facilitated to students. Teachers utilize various applications that add other components to a lesson and offer them the opportunity to closely track and monitor student progress.
Students are able to access online resources all at once in the convenience of their classrooms and utilize technology in real time in conjunction with their teacher’s instruction. Students practice keyboarding skills and learn how to use the google docs programs: document, presentation, spreadsheet, form, and drawing. These programs allow them to be creative and expressive individuals in turning in and developing their class assignments. Some of the applications that students are using are:
